Ah, the refrigerators of my childhood....

Where have all the white appliances gone?
I'm not the first to suggest that new home buyers are fixated on having stainless steel appliances and granite counters in their new (or old) condos and houses. This is just a rant.
Perennially the contrarian, my first choice for my dream kitchen would not be stainless steel appliances, but a smooth white, like when I was a kid. Yes, the 70's.
I never thought I'd ever find anything about the 1970's to be nostalgic about, but after hitting 40 *cough*, I'm pining for the previously un-pine-able.
I used to rest my cheek against the smooth, cool enamel. Of course, I have no fond memories of the avocado or harvest gold.
What I want is modest. What I want is smooth white enamel, not the faux-leather finish that dominates in today's marketplace.
What I don't want is impossible-to-keep clean stainless steel, or busy, easily dated granite counters.
